On this episode of America Uncanceled, Stephanie Elad shares story of her fight for education reform with Mercedes Schlapp. Elad’s story begins simply as a concerned parent who initially voiced her disappointment at prolonged mask mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic. She and other parents were dismissed by the school board and encouraged not to contribute to school board meetings. It was then she realized that the government had taken too much control over education to blatantly tell parents that they have no place in the process. “It’s not okay to treat parents as an intrusion in the children’s education and in their community. Long story short, I ended up deciding to run,” Elad explained. She ran and won a seat on her local school board in Frisco, Texas on the commitment to transparency and supporting parents. Her tenure has resulted in a bathroom policy setting up protections for gender separated restrooms. Elad is continuing to tackle woke culture pervading education leadership and working to reform public education from business-minded to student-minded.
