One Level ILA Pilot Update

I hope that everyone had a great first day of school. I’m not sure where the summer went but I am glad to get back into the routine of the school year. Admittedly, I’m a bit in denial that my older daughter will be away at college in just a few days, and that my younger daughter is in middle school!

At the June board meeting, an update on the One Level ILA (Integrated Language Arts) pilot was presented by Dr. Wes Cunningham. I thought that the community might appreciate seeing the presentation and subsequent questions from the board. The questioning starts around the 12 minute mark and the video is about 30 minutes long. As you might imagine, I asked a number of questions about the purpose of the pilot and how success will be measured. This pilot is currently being done in 8 of our 17 middle schools. The pilot campuses are: Cobb, Griffin, Hunt, Lawler, Maus, Pioneer Heritage, Vandeventer and Wester.

Again, my goal with this newsletter is to provide transparency and accountability. I am most grateful to the community for the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
